Fiction Suit is a collection of six songs recorded over the course of four years, slowly but also: surely. After forming in 2007, Percolator operated as a writing, recording and performing band for an intense 4 years before succumbing to the evils of adulthood; a "real" job, other interests, homeownership, baby-making. PJ tried to quit the band and made it most of the way out, but we didn't quite let him leave ALL the way. Ben tried to quit the band, but we weren't really listening, and failed to notice. Despite these setbacks, Matt and Phil persevered, recording whoever was available whenever they were available. Tracks 1, 2, 3 and 6 feature full band live recordings as their basis. Tracks 4 and 5 were recorded as a 3 piece (Matt, Phil, Ben) with additional bass from PJ on Track 5, and bass by Phil on Track 4. Longstanding collaborator Mike McGovern contributes indirectly to the entirety of the recording, setting up and maintaining the practice space we used to record and lending us his production brain. Additionally, Patrick Droppleman suggested the initial premise & lyrics for track 2 and Richard Giraldi wrote the initial bass part for track 4. Percolator, meanwhile, has ascended to hallowed "studio band" status...virtually unobservable in the wild, but still cobbling together songs in secret like weird hermits and emerging from our caves once in a while to make contact with society at large. In short, Fiction Suit is an EP that we hope you like because we like it, and you should consider being more like us.
